The Galt and District Real Estate Board was founded in 1953 by Merv Himes, Jack Frazer, George Baines, Robert Serviss, Norm McLeod, James Fenton, Robert Wolfe, Spencer Dalton, Ernest (Sam) Knack and Frank Brewer, and later incorporated on October 22, 1964.
The inaugural meeting was held on December 8, 1953 with all 25 Members in attendance. The first elected officers of the Board were Merv Himes, President; Norm McLeod, Vice President; and Spencer Dalton, Secretary Treasurer. In 1955, the Board changed its name to the Galt-Preston-Hespeler Real Estate Board and the membership had grown to 40 hard-working REALTORS. On April 5, 1973, the Galt-Preston-Hespeler Real Estate Board changed its name to the Real Estate Board of Cambridge Inc. On November 23, 2011, the Real Estate Board of Cambridge Inc changed its name to the Cambridge Association of REALTORS® Inc.
